I have discovered the Portfolios Homepage and am curious how it works. I have added it as a Course Button and can view it, but can't figure out any way to add items to it. I've looked as an instructor and as a student. Anyone tried this feature?

What version of Blackboard is your school using? The Portfolios feature is different in Blackboard CE/Vista and the Blackboard Learning System/Content System.

When you have created a link to the portfolio homepage you get to your personal portfolio homepage. Here you get an overview of all portfolio's yopu have created or can create a new one.
When you click on My portfolio's you'll be taken to a page that shows your portfolios (if any) or you can create a new one by clicking the Create personal portfolio or Create basic portfolio button. It depends on the choice made here how to continue with your portfolio. What kind of portfolio you would like to make?

I can see everything except the part to Create anything. Is this something that doesn't work in Bb9 Learn or might there be a setting that hasn't been enabled?
just checked on my Bb 9 test environment and you might be right that creation of portfolios has been disabled.When I disable that on my system I can go to the portfolio homepage and see the portfolios I created before, but there's indeed no option to create a new portfolio. I think you'd best contact your system administrator and ask him/her about the setting of portfolio creation.

I have found that this feature is part of the Blackboard CMS, not Blackboard Learn, so it should not be an option at all. Apparently in 9.1 it will be removed from being seen at all in Blackboard Learn.
